Carmelo Anthony Drops Mardy Collins, Runs Like a Girl
The above is video of the wild scene in Madison Square Garden last night, which included George Karl with some kind of desire to run up the score, Mardy Collins with a desire to club someone because he's frustrated that the Knicks aren't very good at basketball, and Carmelo Anthony with a desire to punch Mardy Collins, and then avoid all physical contact afterwards.
All ten players who were on the floor at the time were suspended. Not all of them deserved to be, but there was about a minute to play, Dick Bavetta couldn't possibly sort out who did what, so he just chucked them all.
Carmelo's the most interesting figure in this. He's the guy who doesn't back down, the guy from the wrong part of Baltimore, who keeps it 'hood everywhere he goes. And for a few minutes, he keeps his rep ... stepping in to hit a teammate who hit one of his teammates. Maybe or maybe not the right thing to do, but at least consistent with when I'd have expected from Carmelo. And then he starts backpedaling like he's being chased by a pack of rabid wolverines. I don't get it, 'Melo.
More is coming on this subject, I'm sure.

My goodness, what is this world coming to! Could it be that New York City has violence too?

This is the most alive, the most effort put on by the Knicks this year. Actually, for the past 4 or 5 years they haven't been this aggresive or seem this alive.
Now if only they would channel this type of energy into their play, maybe they wouldn't be the leagues doormat.

WoW, the knicks finally showed some form of emotion and drive. Too bad it wasn't in a game like it should be.
If you look Marbury didn't change one bit. He was comatose in the fight, same as in games.
Get rid of the this bum!

Its the NBA. It is getting so boring to watch that they have to thug it up to get people interested. There was a time when the NBA had the best marketing in the business....now it is just a joke.

The NBA needs a zero tolerance policy for this kind of thing, I for one am getting tired of seeing it, These guys are paid way too much to act like punks.
one of the greatest players ever in baseball was banned for life for betting on baseball "banned for life " maybe if these punks realize that could happen to them they would act like adult men at this level are expected to act.

soo what the knicks were getting the butts kicked,so what they were rubbing it in your face, Mardy Collins should not have tried to ride J.R. Smiths back while he was going up for a basket, the knicks started it and the excuse they used just ain't right, get better or get off the court.

NOT A BIG DEAL guys. i'd rather have them fight it out on the court than shoot it out at the titty bar after the game.

Lost in this whole ordeal is the idiocy of Nate Robinson. If he weren't clinically retarded, all that happens is a hard foul and some jawing afterward. Instead, it's a brawl. Way to go, Nate. I hate you so much.

NBA contracts might include a clause that the players contract would be terminated for cause with a conviction for a crime committed during a game. Next, such a fight as took place could be criminally investigated by the police and players brought to trial. I think players knowing in advance that they are responsible under the law as the rest of us are might calm these problems.

I always had the feeling carmelo was a low life punk, & he just proved it. I recall doing the same thing to a big dude in a game when I was 13 years old.

Ok, majority of the players in the NBA come from the streets and were poverty stricken till they got NBA contracts! I am a sixers fan, take Allen Iverson for instance, one of basketballs greatest players, but, he still has his thug attitude that he had when he was from the hood of Virginia.Get over it, you making millions now, your not on the streets and living in a run down apartment or having to worry about people firing guns at ya if ya walk the streets at night! To sum it up, if me or the average guy pulls these stunts at our REAL JOBS that we are making pennies at compare to these guys, we are definetely without a job come tomorrow, so maybe the league needs to crack down on all this! I don't see anything wrong with a lil fight here and there, but when its gettin ugly like this, something needs to be done!
