The Indians Are Giving Money Away, Seriously

It's been an odd couple of days for the Cleveland Indians and their fans. First there was the whole ordeal of having an entire series cancelled due to snow, and now the news that the team will be playing it's home games in Milwaukee this week.

It seems that the only thing the Indians organization to do to apologize to it's fans would be to give them free money.

What?

They are?

From an official email sent by the Cleveland Indians to their fans comes this:

On Saturday, April 14 at 7:05pm it will be "Free Money Night" at Jacobs Field. ALL FANS thru the turnstiles will receive a "FREE MONEY ENVELOPE" that will contain cash value ranging from $1, $5, $10, $20, $50, $100 to $10,000.

That's just absolutely awesome. All teams should be forced to do this once a season. The Nationals should do this just to keep fans from suing the organization for emotional and psychological damages suffered from having to watch that team play 162 games.

The Indians are on top of the ball when it comes to in-game promotions. From free money to Superhero themed bobble heads of their players, they know what they're doing. Of course, there is a risk in this free money giveaway.

What happens at the end of the season when the Tribe have to work out new deals for Jake Westbrook, C.C. Sabathia, and Travis Hafner? They might be wishing for some of this money back.

(Special thanks to fellow 'Houser Larry Brown for the tip.)
