Stephen Jackson gets called for the reach on Jason Terry as he pushes the ball up the floor in transition. Baron Davis, slightly after the whistle, takes another swipe at the ball. Terry doesn't like, so Matt Barnes steps in and does the same thing. DeSagana Diop sees this, and swipes as Barnes' arm.
Baron Davis, from beginning to end in this thing, seemed to have no intention of inciting anything or upsetting anyone. As soon as Terry got in his face, his hands were up, he was trying to explain himself and defuse the situation. Matt Barnes appeared more confrontational through the whole, and Terry and Diop were jawing, but neither appeared to really want to do anything.
However, since there is a God in this universe, and because he's looking out for us ... TNT's camera was on Stephen Jackson's face, 20 feet away, through all of this. After committing the initial foul, he looks away towards the bench and raises his hand to indicate that he's aware of his guilt.
At this point, he's smiling. But he happens to turn back around, and see guys in each others' faces ... and his face immediately goes from "smile mode" to "OH, $&*@'S ABOUT TO JUMP OFF!" mode, and he sprints over to the scene (as this was all about to die down, mind you, and was about to become a total non-issue). Within seconds, Jackson is the one being held back.
Technical fouls are called on Baron Davis, Stephen Jackson, and DeSagana Diop. Davis claims he didn't do anything wrong, I'm buying his story. He did swipe late at the ball, but from that point on, appeared to want nothing but peace.
Jackson, though, can be seen saying to the referee, "I was breaking it up!" He's got a funny way of breaking things up. Ask the people in Auburn Hills. I love you, Jack, but come on ... you are way, way, way, way, way past the point of ever being given the benefit of the doubt that you're "trying to break it up."

The ref's took over the game in the 3rd quarter of this game. If you're only calling fouls at one end of the court its easy to see why Golden State thought they were getting the shaft by the refs.

WELL THE GHETTO FREE STROKIN BOYS REALLY SHOWED THERE TURE COLOR TONIGHT. STEPHEN JACKSON DID SO MUCH TALKING TO THE REFS THAT I MISTOOK HIM FOR TIM DUNCAN AT TIMES. JACKSON HAD A GREAT GAME, BUT HE IS A THUG AND SHOULD BE SUSPENDED FROM GAME 3, SOMEONE SHOULD HAVE DUMPED A BEER ON HIS HEAD WHEN HE WOULDNT LEAVE THE COURT LAST NIGHT. DAVIS LOOKED LIKE A FOOL IN THE THRID MAKING THAT STUPID BUCK TOOTH FACE WHILE CLAPPING, HE LOOKED LIKE A WOODCHUCK CHOMP CHOMP CHOMP. NELSON NEEDS TO GET A LEASH ON HIS WILD ANIMALS, BEFORE SOMEBODY REALLY DOES GET HURT. CUBAN DID MELLOW OUT LAST NIGHT, AND HE BETTER BEHAVE THE REST OF THE PLAYOFFS OR ELSE THE CHAMPIONSHIP WILL BE TAKEN AWAY FROM HIS TEAM FOR THE 2ND YEAR IN A ROW. AND FOR DIRK, BE A MAN AND TAKE THE BALL TO THE HOOP, YOUR JUST AS STRONG AS THESE GUYS, POST UP LOWER IN THE BLOCK AND FINISH YOUR GOD DAMN LEFT HANDED LAYUPS, OR DUNK IT YOUR 7 FEET TALL MY MAN. GET AGRESSIVE DIRK AND SHOW THESE THUGS YOU ARE NOT AFRAID OF THEM.

there's so many things wrong with that sentence gramatically and just in general. but anyways, the refs were doing a horrible job. they just weren't consistent on both ends of the floor. the mavs were getting bad calls, although not as much as the warriors. but the warriors need to remember that they're not good enough to lose their best player so early in the game. no matter who wins this series, this will go down as one of the most exciting first round matchups in the last few seasons.

FIRST OF ALL WE NEED TO MAKE SOME THINGS CLEAR:
1.if the mavs were soooo good why did the Warriors beat them 7 times in a row?
2.the refs were totally in favor of the mavs - calling fouls that weren't even fouls
3. it's obvious no one wants the Warriors to win, including the refs - HATERS
4.everyone's just jealous that "ghetto" teams can actually play great - BETTER than the no. 1 team in the NBA
5. The refs were weak - couldn't take some loud mouthing from the Warriors
6. the mavs were weak exagerating hits - Guess they can't take a real hit
7. WAIT TILL THEY COME TO OAKLAND!!!

Placing your body between combatants and restraining the "friendly" side with your arms is, I believe, the generally accepted way to break up a fight.

I was so aggravated at the ridiculous fouls they were calling on the Warriors last night, I actually had to turn off the game. If they gave Baron Davis a T (when he didn't deserve one) how in the hell did they not give one to Terry who dropped the ball and got in Davis's face? The only one who deserved a double T was Diop, since he started it. This is the second game the Mavs have benefitted from a players ejection. First Tim Duncan in the Spurs game, and now this. The Mavs probably still would have won the game, but at least the Warriors would have been able to put up their best effort. It makes me laugh when people say the refs are out to get the Mavs because of Mark Cuban. Last night's game should be proof that that is ridiculous. Hopefully the whistles won't be so one sided in Game 3.
