Cue Mel Kiper Jr: "It's clear to me the Miami Dolphins have no idea what the draft is all about." Unless Cam Cameron thinks Ted Ginn is going score 16 special-teams touchdowns, I'm not sure why this is a good pick at No. 9. Of course, assuming Ginn's success will be solely special teams means that the Dolphins don't need a quarterback to throw him the ball.
But if Cameron thinks Ginn provides the Dolphins a deep threat, well, I'd remind you (again) that Miami currently doesn't have a quarterback. And when they trade for Trent Green -- which is looking like a real possibility now -- the team still won't have a deep threat because Green can't throw the ball more than 30 yards down the field.
I'm fine with the idea that Quinn wasn't Cameron's pick -- that's cool, the guy knows quarterbacks, after all -- but with so much depth at wide receiver, I just don't get Ginn. Certainly, Devin Hester redefined what a return specialist is worth on draft day, but I feel confident in writing that the Dolphins have quite a few more needs than the Bears did in '06. Now, I guess, we shouldn't be surprised if Miami nabs Trent Edwards, John Beck, or Drew Stanton in Round 2.

What an amazingly BAD pick! I rarely agree with Mel Kiper, but he's right on point in saying the Dolphins have no idea what the draft is all about. New regime, same old problems in understanding and evaluating talent.

Unreal! All week in south Florida the story was trying to trade up for Quinn. Quinn falls to ninth in the dolphin's lap, and they take a 5' 11'' 175lb receiver. How about a stud left tackle? Dolpins once again fail to address team needs.

what's funny is that after I read Culpepper's e-mail to the media, I know that guy wants to play. If that is the case, the Trent Green trade won't happen... He might be picked up if he becomes a free agent but if Culpepper is on schedule then all this whining is for nothing. Why pay big bucks for a qb that won't be used? Ginn will be a super-star and Culpepper will be doing the throwing next year.

The front office must think this is a mock draft.

Year after year after year after year..............it's the same old story. The only question I can ask is "what were you thinking?" Are there classes somewhere out there that can teach the art of drafting successfully in the NFL? The Dolphin organization could certainly use it... and quick. Just think, for this they raised the ticket prices, again!

We needed this guy after losing Wes Welker to the Pats - He fills 3 positions immediately plus you can use him on end arounds and gadget plays - no he isn't a Calvin Johnson ~ and #1 wide outs aren't returning kicks anyway's - but field position is very important for a team without a lot of talent to move down a long field or grind out a clock - hes a special one of a kind triple threat a lot of teams covet - I knew this would be the Dolphins pick I even predicted on the site :) ... Hopefully he wont be another Yatil Green - but a simular player in the past we have had like Nat Moore or Duriel Harris -
Respectfully ,

I think Cam passed on Quinn because he wasn't impressed when they threw the ball around during his last visit. He's a QB expert, maybe he saw something the rest of us didn't!! He's known the Ginn family for 10 years and is confident the Fins are getting someone without character faults who can make plays.

I think Ginn was a good pick. The Dolphins had to replace WesWelker who was not only popular but also very efficidnt. Brady Quinn might have created a potential QB controversy when Daunte comes back (and he WILL come back strong!)If he isn't fully ready to come back this year, Trent Green would be a fantastic fix in the short run.

AT LEAST THE DOLPHINS HAVE BEEN CONSISTENT SINCE DON SCHULA LEFT. THIS DRAFT SELECTION WILL BE THE ONE REFERRED TO IN FUTURE YEARS AS ONE OF THE ALL TIME SCREW UPS. THE DOLPHINS NEED O-LINE PEOPLE AND THERE ARE NONE IN SIGHT IN THEIR PLANS. THEY WILL NOT BECOME A SUCCESSFUL FRANCHISE AGAIN UNTIL THE GET A DECENT QUARTER BACK....AND LEARN TO PICK PLAYERS IN A DRAFT. DAMN, THIS IS A MAJOR DISAPPOINTMENT. WELL, AT LEAST WE WILL HAVE A VERY HIGH DRAFT PICK NEXT YEAR...AND FOR YEARS TO COME.

Let's see; our quarterback options are a knock-kneed stiff with a bad attitude, a relatively untested career backup, and a 26-year old rookie(remember Weinke?) who's too short! We better sign Trent Green, now that we can't trade for him, or else get ready for another year of an ineffective, stumbling offense(WR screen for 2 yards sound familiar?) that's going to run an oft-stellar defense into the ground. Was that a Wannestadt sighting in the war room?!

For all of you defending the Ginn pick. You must be crazy. Come on you have a chance to take the first franchise quarterback since Marino and you pass for a receiver that wasn't even in the top group of available receivers. Yeah you got Beck, but the better option would have been take Quinn and pick up someone like Dwayne Jarret in the second round before Carolina. Well I just hope Miami fans are ready for another crappy season.

All the local sports reporters seem to have one thing in common...Kiss up to the Dolphins! How the talent of Brady Quinn can be overlooked because the Dolphin thinkers (or stinkers) say a wide wreceiver is more valuable and John Beck is a better rated QB!! Look around the country genleman and read what unbiased sportswriters think of all this!

Quinn is a crappy quarterback anyway he can't win the BIG GAME! 40- 14 LSU. Who does that remind you of. 0-3 in Bowl games. Marino like if you ask me
