Following are my bold proclamations regarding last night's epic 109-91 Warriors win over the Mavs. Golden State stayed cool and now leads the storybook first-round series 2-1.
Most fans come home from the arena hoarse; Warriors fans come home from the Oracle deaf. This was the most exciting game I've ever been to. The crowd noise could have edged Barbosa for that Sixth Man award.
Baron Davis is two games away from an MVP award. Forget those other guys. If the Warriors break into the second round, Boom Dizzle has got my vote.
The Mavs are two games away from throwing away 67. If I had worked my bum off all season to earn homecourt advantage throughout the playoffs, I sure would be salty about not getting to use it at all.
Defense wins championships ... unless your opponent has offense like this. Those Dubs were scoring so fast that I sometimes had trouble keeping track of The DIFF.
It's time for Avery to go to Plan C. Forget trying to play small ball. Forget trying to play Dampier and Diop. Give Pops Mensah-Bonsu some burn so you have a big guy on the floor who can actually score. (Not that I'm trying to help Dallas.)
Mark Cuban needs to wear a belt with his saggy jeans. There's not much more to say about that.
Avery's hotel tricks aren't going to work. We've heard about the coach taking his players to remote hotels far away from party cities and making them double up with roommates. Well, this trip the team is staying all the way up in Berkeley, at the famous Claremont Resort. But someone forgot to tell AJ that the Claremont hosts a somewhat popping-off night scene.

You really just need to read the entire Warriors section.

This is shaping up as the most fun series to watch in some very good Western Conference matchups. At least for this series against the Mavs, the Warriors are playing some electric basketball. Its great to see the Bay Area fans so excited after years of being out of the playoffs. The deserve some excitement up there for the loyalty they've shown. Now it will be interesting to see if the Mavs have the same fight in them that the Warriors have shown.

The NBA has been building this type of scenario for some time in the sense that no longer are higher seated teams a "shoe in" to advance to the next round.
It's compelling and fun to watch as this take place in the playoffs. Especially this early.
As a basketball fan...that makes it scary good to watch. As a Spur fan...it makes it just plain scary that the Nuggets could easily do to San Antonio what Golden State has managed to do to Dallas thus far.
Bottom line...fans are getting their money's worth. It's good for the true fan and good for the progression of the sport.

78% of first Game winners win the series. looks like most of the so Called experts missed that stat. "Regular season means nothing" that is a direct quote from every so called expert out there. HMMMM, GSW owns Dallas for two years during the regular season, won game one (and now three), and looks like they have big D's number. Sorry experts time to give GSW some damn credit and admit that regular season mathcups mean a hell of a lot ,in particular when one team owns that match up for two years running.

This was one of the best games I have ever seen! I live on the East Coast and I had to be up for work at 6am, but I couldn't turn the game off. It was worth being tired this morning. I hope the Warriors win this series. They are a fun team to watch and frankly I want to see someone shut Mark Cuban up, although them losing will probably mean more whining about the refs and how David Stern hates him and the Mavs.

I haven't been this excited since the Warriors played Philly with Wilt Chamberlain.

this is really an intriguing series. on the one hand, the mavs looked like a juggernaut and you have to give avery johnson a lot of credit. enter nellie and you have a hungry group of underrated players outplaying and outphyching avery and the mavs!
after last year's meltdown in the playoffs, you gotta feel a little for the mavs who've done nothing but work their asses off to try and fix last year.
on the other hand, you have to really admire nellie's job with baron davis, the psychotic stephen jackson and the rest of the warriors to make this incredible run!
there are reasons for being sympathetic to either team as they've both worked incredibly hard to get to this point- albeit the warriors had a much, much later start.
in a sense, you kind of have to go for the warriors who epitomize a team effort with few (if any) superstars but its also tough to see the mavs having worked so hard all season- and getting the best record in this year's NBA- just to get knocked out in the 1st round.
let the best team win!

I WANT GS TO WIN THE SERIES. THE "GURU" COMMENTATORS HAVE BEEN KISSING THE MAVS ASS ALL SEASON W/ THE "THEY ARE DETERMINED TO FINISH THE DEAL THIS YEAR" GARBAGE. ALL THE W'S IN THE REGULAR SEASON AND THEY ARE ON THE ROPES TO AN 8 SEED? GS NEEDS TO FINISH THEM OFF. CAN YOU IMAGINE HOW THE MAVS WILL FEEL? THE BEST THING IS W/ THE HUMILIATION THAT BRATTY SOB OWNER CUBAN WILL BE OFF THE TV SHOTS AND HE CAN TAKE HIS SLOPPY BILLLIONAIRE ASS AWAY FROM ANY MEDIA COVERAGE. THE MIGHTY MAVS WIN 67 AND GET OUSTED IN THE 1ST ROUND. YES I'M LAUGHING AT YOU CUBAN. BY THE WAY, NO WAY NOWITSKI GETS THE MVP.
